Yemi AladeSinger has a message for her critics [Video]

Yemi Alade replies her Twitter critics in what is best described as a clap back video.

Yemi Alade won the Best Female Artist at the MAMA 2016 Awards. (Face2Face Africa)

After trending on Twitter for all the wrong reasons, Yemi Alade has come with a message for those criticising her music.

Twitter was abuzz yesterday, Friday, December 30, as many called Alade's music trash, made worse for her non-existent lyrics.

Some even compared her music to Tekno's adding that they were both trash but at least, he did a better job of making his fans dance.

Critics come for Yemi Alade

Seeing as we still in 2016, the year for clapbacks, Alade did not mince words in her reply video.

She insisted that she was being targeted simply because she was female and asked that they criticise for all the right reasons while putting her male counterparts under the microscope.

Of course, she rubbed in the fact that she is still making money than any of her critics, which is the whole point.
You would recall that this is not the first time a female celebrity has attributed criticism to gender equality but then again, it is awfully convenient, as Alade' critics were quick to point out.

We invested our school fees, project money in MMM – University students
Members of the famous money-doubling scheme, Mavrodi Mundial Moneybox (MMM) Nigeria, have continued to let out their anger on the scheme.
This follows the freezing of all confirmed Mavros, otherwise known as money due for withdrawal, till January 14, 2017.
University students say they invested our school fees, project money in MMM
In separate interviews conducted by The Punch, University students who took part in the scheme have resorted to prayers as their monies have been put on hold for one month.
They are hopeful MMM returns as promised so as they can withdraw their monies.
Checkout reactions below;
Ozadhe Russell, civil engineering department, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Oyo state said: "The amount I invested in the MMM scheme was N100,000. I was expecting my 30 per cent profit when I got the news that our accounts have been suspended. It was a bitter news. Being a student, the fund was raised to pay my school fees and to meet other basic needs.
"It is a great risk but many students enrolled in the scheme to make profit and to live a better life. If MMM crashes, I would accept it as my fate. I will have to look for other ways to source my school fees. There is nothing I can do. I will only learn from it and not engage in such a scheme again."
Chukwunyere Chimobi, electrical electronics department, FUTO, Owerri, Imo state said: "A friend in my department started talking about MMM excitedly. He said MMM was a new online business platform that credits you with 30 percent interest of your payment in 30 days. I said waoh! I never took interest in it until the need to tackle certain needs arose.
"On Tuesday, December 13, when the news that the MMM had been suspended came in, I was expecting bank alert of roughly N500,000. I raised the fund to participate in the scheme from my pocket money. If the scheme crashes, it will be a big loss to me. Just last week, I lost to an online business called ‘coin fever,’ it all happened within minutes.
"I have always known that MMM would crash soon. If it crashes, it will hurt me but life goes on. I participated in the scheme despite the risks to upgrade my life and to beat the current economy recession. There are so many financial needs to meet up with such as paying my school fees, buying text books and other learning materials as well as other dues in the school."
Faniyi Inumidun, accounting department, AAUA, Ondo state said: "A friend introduced me to participate in the MMM scheme. Being a lucrative one, I decided to benefit too, having heard of the success stories. I invested N40, 000 in the scheme. The money is for my final year project and my feeding allowance. It will be very painful if MMM crashes. Considering my investment, it will be a big loss for me. My plan was to use the profits from the scheme to finance my final year project and to meet other needs. I am seriously praying that the suspension should be lifted so I can reclaim my funds."
Martin Mundus Unakwe, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, FUTO, Owerri, Imo state said: "The latest investment I made in MMM was N100,000, but in total, I invested over N250,000 in the scheme. I got money to invest in MMM from other businesses that I run as a student. I didn’t have any special plan for the money I would make from MMM. With the profit, I would upgrade my lifestyle and improve my life. I had always known that it would crash one day as it is not a sustainable scheme. But I always prayed that my money doesn’t get stuck when it eventually crashes. I will feel the impact of the loss if it crashes. MMM is not my only business. I do other things that fetch me money."Ifediora Sylvia, Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger state said: "A friend of mine told me to join MMM when I told him I needed some money. I decided to try my luck with the money.
When I saw many students making money, I joined the trend. I actually participated in the scheme because I needed to meet up with some basic school needs. For example, when I offered to provide “help” of N50,000, in the following month, I collected N75,000, with a gain of N25,000 without working or stressing myself.
"I basically invested in it because of the high return on investment. In this period of recession, it became a way out. I will say I belong to the lucky category of investors. I got all my money back last month before the accounts were frozen; I decided not to participate in it again because I was scared.
"It is hard to believe that the money of other participants is going to be paid back. I hope and pray they lift the ban in January as they promised."
Tunde Afuwape, Biochemistry, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, Oyo state said: "Someone introduced me to MMM and he talked excitedly about it. I invested N30,000 in the MMM business. The money was what I made from a project I did for someone. Being a final year student, I am already preparing for graduation. I figured out that before my NYSC, there are things I could do if I have some cash. It will be painful if the scheme crashes Against an imminent crash, which I have been praying against, I will move on with life. This is because, from the outset, I understood the risk involved.Life is all about risk."

Joke's post to her baby daddy
She was congratulating him but it was coming from a place of anger. She said: "Congrats to my baby papa on your introduction but know this, you can't destroy someone dear and think your own dreams will come true. F*ck fake love, Akinmesere Martins Seyi."

Joke's post
After the news went viral and her baby daddy responded, she has a lot to say as well. She then said: "Smile crazy dude, @Prince martins sheye, why will you bother your mentor who has everything to take care of his children."
Joke's post after her baby daddy replied
"You neglect your son, you never take care of him. You will never have peace     and a happy home. Since birth, it's only N15k you spent on your baby and you sent it last week. We survive without you m*therf**ker and you are still owing   me N40k so please pay me my money, b*stard."
Hopefully, the two of them can have a cordial relationship for the sake of their son.

2017 Budget: A document haunted by past failures
- Budget performance in Nigeria for the last few years has been very               poor
- Successive governments have failed to improve on the lives of the       common man despite huge sums of money budgeted for the fiscal year
- Nigeria’s budget has grown from N948 billion in 1999 to N6.06 trillion in     2016
Following the presentation of the 2017 Budget to a joint session of the     National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari today, December 14, experts have probed into why the country’s budgets have failed to have a     major impact on Nigerians, especially in the area of infrastructure.

President Buhari presented the 2017 Budget to the National Assembly today

Since 1999 when Nigeria returned back to civil rule, the budget has grown     from N948 billion in 1999 to N6.06 trillion in 2016.
From 1999 to 2016, successive Nigerian governments have budgeted         monies totalling N53 trillion with little or nothing to show for it.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo (1999-2007), Late President Umaru       Musa Yar’adua (2007-2010), Dr Goodluck Jonathan (2010-2015) and     incumbent Muhammadu Buhari (2015 – date) have not embarked on any     major infrastructural project even with funds accrued to their governments   every year.

According to the experts, the budgets have failed to have any meaningful   impact on Nigerians due to various issues which includes:
1. Frivolous and fictitious heads and duplication of items in the budget
2. High recurrent votes carefully crafted to boost ghost workers in the                system scheme
3. Non-implementation of capital votes as planned
4. Abandonment of projects after mobilization
5. Duplication of office buildings, personnel and overhead cost
6. Corrupt procurement processes
7. Poor execution or non-execution of projects
8. Inconsistencies in projects’ preparation and timeframe
9. Ambiguous sub-heads in budgets
The former director-general of Bureau of Public Procurement, Emeka                 Eze, while in office lamented about the number of government projects abandoned across the country.
The projects, mainly budgeted for, stood at 19,000 as at May this year     according to Eze.
According to The Guardian, Nigeria has budgeted N33.2 trillion in the last     seven years, with recurrent expenditures averaging 72 per cent, leaving 28         per cent for capital votes.
A graph that shows the performance of budgets in Nigeria for the last 11 years. Source: Tradingeconomics.com

Experts say an average of N900 billion yearly has been made in the last 17   years.
The head of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of Nigeria, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ademola, said, “the duplications and ambiguous sub-heads in budgets show lack of transparency and poor processes. It is a pitiable     situation for the country, given its place among the nations.
“Truly, if there’s a system and procedures, somebody should see something wrong in this development and somebody must be responsible and held responsible too.”
Many say successive government’s capital expenditure have failed and only succeeded in being a conduit pipe for corrupt public officials to fleece the country.
Nigerians have continued to get the short end of the stick from their leaders despite ambitious budgets.
Comrade Idowu Adelakan, the chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress,       Lagos state chapter puts it succinctly: “It is a waste of economic resources; budgets have not been productive because it is a way of putting money in         the pockets of politicians, the rich grows richer and the poor get poorer,”
On his part, secretary-general of the Trade Union Congress , Musa Lawal,         said previous budgets have not been productive due to lack of effective   planning by government, which often planned for the short term.
But the present administration seems to be addressing some of the issues     with budgeting especially with regards to funding as Nigeria battles economic recession.
The minister of budget and national planning, Mr Udoma Udo Udoma has revealed that the federal government will issue new oil licences in 2017 as a   way of addressing the issue
Breakdown of the 2017 Budget. Source: Budgit

The minister made the comment when he appeared before the Senate             Joint Committee on Appropriation and Finance to defend the revised           Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the Fiscal Strategy           Paper (FSP).
According to Udoma, the federal government would also review the current     joint venture arrangements with oil companies, marginal oil fields as well as mount pressure on revenue generating agencies to surpass expected targets.
His words: “Non-oil revenues will rake in about N5.06 trillion. These revenues     are expected to come from corporate and company taxes, Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas, Stamp Duties, capital gains tax and value added tax.
“Others are Customs, excise, fees, surcharges on luxury items, special levies    and federal government independent revenue.
“In actual dollar term, the 2017 budget is smaller. We have had challenges in revenue generation in funding the 2016 budget.’’
President Muhammadu Buhari proposed a N7.2trillion budget for 2017 at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday, November 30, during which it was approved.
The approval of the budget, which is about 24 per cent higher than the 2016 budget is N6.06 trillion.
The president said with collective dedication and hard work, Nigerians would     in 2017 overcome the economic difficulties, and return the country to the path   of prosperity.
Meanwhile, the federal government have listed some projects it intends to carryout in 2017.
The projects are:
1. Fund an electric-vehicle commuter project in some cities
2. Tree-planting projects in the north
3. Off-grid solar-power projects producing as much as 1,200 megawatts in the north
4. Support environment-friendly projects in the Niger Delta where the government aims to eliminate gas flaring by 2019
5. Continue the clean-up of the Ogoni land oil spills
